It was part of a 14 product recall issued May 1, 2009 due to an FDA release warning of 23 reports of serious health problems ranging from jaundice and elevated liver enzymes to one death associated with liver failure and Hydroxycut Rapid Release Regular Caplets. Other complaints alleged problems with seizures, cardiovascular disorders, and rhabdomyolysis or the rapid and sudden breakdown of the skeletal system typically associated only with prolonged and severe chemical exposure or certain types of harsh exercises.
